RODO a BREXIT

THE DRAFT ADEQUACY DECISION FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM ALREADY PUBLISHED

On Friday, the European Commission published a draft decision finding an adequate level of protection for transfers of personal data to the UK.
According to the procedure adopted, the draft will then be subject to the opinion of the European Data Protection Board and the approval of a committee of representatives of the EU Member States.
Adoption of an adequacy decision will allow controllers to safely transfer personal data to the UK as a third country after the end of the transition period (30 June 2021 at the latest), without having to independently assess the level of protection of personal data in the recipient country and seek alternative solutions and safeguards.

* Currently, following Brexit, transfers of personal data to the UK may take place under the transitional provisions of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement.
